I.D. Images LLC, a leading pressure sensitive label converter with headquarters in Brunswick, OH, USA, has received BS5609 section 3 approval from Smithers Pira for a flexographically printed label construction.

I.D. Images received BS5609 section 3 approval to print four specific ink colors; black, 185 red, reflex blue and yellow with a protective varnish on two Spinnaker Coating Polypropylene materials. These materials also have BS5609 section 3 approval for thermal transfer printing with two ITW ribbons through a CAB XC6 printer.

The ability to print static information with inks gives customers the additional flexibility to pre-print static information on chemical labels required to pass BS5609 section 3 compliance and print additional specific chemical information through the CAB printer with an approved ribbon on an “as needed” basis.

In the US, OSHA set a June 2015 deadline for chemical manufacturers to use GHS compliant labels, a December 2015 deadline for distributors, and a June 2016 deadline for end users.
